STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — With the weather shifting between embracing spring and backpedaling towards the dregs of winter, it’s that time of year in New York City where layers are your best friend.

Sunday, for starters, boasts a high of 62 degrees; but with sullen clouds and whipping winds, the day will devolve into a mess of rain and thunder. AccuWeather predicts that nearly three-quarters of an inch of rain will pour down Sunday night, sparking “ponding on streets and highways.”

The rain will cool off the weather to just 50 degrees in time for the beginning of the workweek. Pair a “RealFeel” of 44 degrees with wind gusts of 32 miles-per-hour, and you’ll be glad to bring an extra jacket with you.

Tuesday follows a similar footprint to Monday, though the wind does abate. Wednesday, on the other hand, will be a smidge warmer with 54 degrees as a high.

Expect clouds, but no rain.

That sentiment naturally changes come Thursday as temperatures climb back up to 60 degrees during the day, with the sun battling roving clouds to make brief appearances. Thursday night is when the rain returns, though it is expected to be considerably less than Sunday’s totals.

Friday will welcome back the wind gusts of 30 miles-per-hour as the sun and clouds dance again for dominance. The day will reach 56 degrees, though it will feel more like 50 degrees.

Saturday will be “cooler with more sun than clouds,” according to AccuWeather. A high of 44-degrees is expected.

Sunday, on the other hand, will be “mostly cloudy” as the wind kicks up to 32 miles-per-hour at points throughout the day. The high temperature will be just under 50 degrees, but the good news is that there is no rain forecasted.
