PARK SLOPE, NY — The “No Kings” movement is gearing up for another weekend of protests against President Donald Trump, with demonstrations planned across New York, including one in Park Slope.

Protests are expected to take place nationwide on Saturday, March 28. See a map of locations here.

The demonstrations are being organized independently by local advocacy groups and community members, with dozens of national organizations and nonprofits supporting the events as partners.

In Brooklyn, the protest is scheduled for 1 p.m., with organizers calling on participants to gather on Garfield Place before marching down Prospect Park West.

Those planning to attend the Park Slope rally are encouraged to register at nokings.org to receive event updates and help organizers prepare for turnout.

The group notes that it operates with limited resources and relies on volunteers to coordinate demonstrations like last October’s large-scale march through Park Slope.

Organizers with NoKings.org say protesters are returning to the streets this weekend to stand against what they call an attack on democracy.

“As President Trump escalates his attempts to control us, it is on us, the people, to show that we will fight to protect one another and our country. If he believes we will roll over and allow him to take our freedoms, he is mistaken,” the group said in a statement.

This weekend marks the third wave of “No Kings” rallies since Trump began his second term in office.

The president has fired back at demonstrators, rejecting the label of a “king” and insisting that he “works [his] ass off to make our country great.” He has also dismissed the protesters, claiming they don’t represent the majority of Americans.

“The demonstrations were very small, very ineffective and the people were whacked out,” Trump said after the last round of protests.

Organizers have urged participants to remain peaceful and focus on de-escalation if confronted by counter-protesters.

“A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action,” organizers said. “We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.”

Attendees are also being reminded not to bring weapons of any kind, even those that are legally permitted.

“Masked secret police terrorizing our communities. An illegal, catastrophic war putting us in danger and driving up our costs,” organizers said. “Trump wants to rule over us as a tyrant. But this is America, and power belongs to the people – not to wannabe kings or their billionaire cronies.”
