A 58-year-old construction worker renovating a Brooklyn home was attacked by a part-time co-worker wielding a hammer during an argument over tools, police said Wednesday.
Cops released a surveillance image of the assailant in hope that someone recognizes him.
The victim was working on a renovation project on 42nd St. near 12th Ave. in Borough Park around 4:15 p.m. last Thursday when the other construction worker, who his colleagues know only as “Chino,” began arguing with him “over the usage of tools,” police said.
As the argument heated up, Chino brandished a hammer and hit his victim over the head with it, witnesses told police.
He then stormed off and was caught on surveillance camera leaving the scene.
EMS took the wounded hardhat to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.
Co-workers told detectives that Chino shows up at neighborhood projects from time to time looking to do construction jobs for some money, cops said.
The suspect is described as white or Hispanic and was last seen wearing a black hat, green hooded jacket, tan shirt and tan pants.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call NYPD CrimeStoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
