New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo suffered what appeared to be a season-ending ankle injury on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

With 8:11 remaining in the second quarter, Skattebo went up for a Jaxson Dart pass and landed awkwardly with an Eagles defender rolling up the back of his legs. As the smoke cleared, Skatt’s foot was facing in the wrong direction.

The on-field reaction told the story of the injury’s severity.

Skattebo was immediately put into an air cast and carted into the locker room as the Eagles’ home audience, known for their hostility, showed compassion and provided Skattebo with a standing ovation.
