As reported, a 53-year-old woman was found deceased at 15 East Mosholu Parkway North in the Norwood section of The Bronx on Thursday, Oct. 23. The cause is to be determined by the Office of the City’s Medical Examiner and the incident remains under investigation.

A woman’s wig was seen on the street a short distance away from a bar called “Momma Dora” which, along with a number of other businesses was cordoned off by police. Bloodstains and shattered glass were also seen nearby.

What looked like a circular-shaped gold-colored earring was also seen on the sidewalk a short distance from the bar but was not marked as evidence. Norwood News spoke to a woman who was entering the bar later on Sunday morning, though it was closed at the time. Speaking in Spanish, she said she didn’t know what had happened and wasn’t aware that a woman had died.

Asked what time the bar shut, she said 4 a.m. We asked if she was the owner, and she said she was not. We also spoke to local resident Chris to ask if he knew anything further about what had happened.

When we informed him that the victim was a 35-year-old woman, he said, “Every night, those places usually get very amplified, people just going there and there’s usually like coming out one or two men fighting so seeing that it was a woman [in an altercation] is actually a surprise. Usually, it’s like guys, you know how guys are, very self-centered, wannabe macho more than another.”

He added, “I would have assumed it would have been a man. I’m from the neighborhood, born and raised, but I’m never really here. I’m usually in the City.”

Another man who declined to be identified who said he just rides the bus through the area commented that the situation was “sad,” and added, “It’s a rough area.” A Norwood News reader later commented that the bar was previously operating as O’Brien’s.

We spoke to a few other residents who declined to comment. One local employee said she was not in the area at the time the murder took place as she only works mornings.

We also spoke to another father who was in the area to meet with his daughter who he said was a student and who lived on the block where the stabbing took place. Asked if he felt concerned for her safety after hearing about the incident, he said he was.
