NEW YORK CITY, New York (WABC) — For one night, and one night only, some of Broadway’s best are coming together for a special performance at the Metropolitan Opera for a special concert called ‘Lamb of God.’

Entertainment Reporter Joelle Garguilo sat down with two stars of the show, Norm Lewis and Santino Fontana, to discuss what people should know about it.

‘Lamb of God’ is a different type of show, Garguilo said, asking Lewis and Fontana what people need to know about it.

“March 30 at the Met, with 3,800 seats, 125-person choir, 72-piece orchestra, 13 or so Broadway stars that are singing these roles–it’s going to be an event, it’s a one-night-only event, both (Lewis and I) are making a debut,” Fontana said.

“He did his homework,” Lewis added. “He knew all the statistics.”

In the show, Lewis is playing Pontius Pilate, and Fontana plays John. Lewis made the connection that he often plays roles in which he kills Jesus.

“I don’t know why,” Lewis said.

“Someone has to,” Fontana added, laughing.

Jessie Mueller, Tony Winner, and Joy Woods are also in the show, with Fontana emphasizing that the show has a great cast.

Since this is a one-night-only show, rehearsals have been brief but intense.

“You wanna make sure that you sing the right notes,” Lewis said.

It’s also perfect timing, as Easter and Passover celebrations are underway for many.

“The story that we all know, but it’s really about the relationships with the people around Jesus,” Fontana said.

Lewis compared the show to a mass, which is “beautifully set.”

“We’re so excited about singing at the Met,” Lewis said.

“I have never sung at the Met, and never will again, probably,” Fontana added, jokingly.
