40-Foot Whale Washes Ashore Onto Rockaway Beach In NYC

QUEENS, NY — A dead whale washed ashore on Rockaway Beach on Thursday.

The 40-foot sei whale was spotted near Beach 95th Street, according to the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society.

The sei whale was spotted floating in the water on Wednesday night before washing ashore on Thursday.

Scientists are expected to perform a necropsy on Friday. The cause of the whale’s death has been determined yet.

An investigation remains ongoing.
