NEW YORK (PIX11) – A JetBlue flight heading to New York City hit a coyote while taking off from an airport on Tuesday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration tells PIX11 News.
JetBlue Flight No. 1129 was departing from Rhode Island’s T.F. Green International Airport on Tuesday morning when it struck the animal during departure. The flight made a quick but safe return to the airport around 6:40 a.m., according to an FAA spokesperson.

The aircraft, Airbus A320, landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport without further issues, JetBlue Corporate Communications said.
PIX11 News contacted T.F. Green International Airport, but they were not immediately available to comment.
Since the 1990s, aircraft have struck more than 900 coyotes in the United States, according to FAA data.
