MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary’s dropped a pair of high-scoring game to Marist on Tuesday, falling by the scores of 10-5 and 9-6. Avery Dinges, Gina Del Giorno and Sharon Manni combined for 16 hits in the two games to pace the Mount offense. In the opening game, Dinges was 4-for-4 with three doubles and a triple. Manni went 3-for-3 with a double and a triple in game two. Dinges leads the Mount in batting average (.443), runs (22), doubles (9), on-base percentage (.513), slugging percentage (.643) and steals (24). Tristin Koerner and Kelsie Bandelow are tied for the team lead in RBI with 11. In the circle, the trio of Emmaleigh Zagrodnicheck (2-5, 4.30 ERA, 44.0 IP), Ellie Meier (2-3, 4.78 ERA, 33.2 IP) and Sophia Schmehl (2-4, 4.79 ERA, 38.0 IP) have handled the majority of the starts.
ABOUT THE JASPERS: Manhattan is on a three-game win streak after a sweep of Saint Peter’s in a MAAC doubleheader on Tuesday. Manhattan is now 8-18 overall and 4-4 in the MAAC. Natalye DeBus (.386, 7 HR, 24 RBI) and Brianna Estevez (.379, 16 R, 10 SB, 15 RBI) have been the top two hitters in the lineup. Manhattan is hitting .294 as a team and is second in the MAAC with 20 home runs. DeBus is also 4-3 with a 4.65 ERA in 58.2 innings of work while Karissa Spring is 2-4 with a 5.19 ERA in a team-high 59.1 innings.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: Manhattan holds an 8-4 lead in the all-time series wit the Mount. The teams split a doubleheader at the Mount last year with Manhattan taking the opening game, 7-0, before the Mount rebounded with a 10-1 win in game two. The Mount is 3-2 all-time against the Jaspers in MAAC regular season contests. This will be the Mount’s first road series against the Jaspers since a three-game set in 2015. The Mount is 3-3 at home, 0-3 on the road and 1-2 at a neutral site all-time against Manhattan.
NEWS AND NOTES
Dinges had three steals in the Mount’s second game against Marist, giving her a team-high 24 on the year. The 24 steals are the second-most in a single season in program history, moving her past Abigayle Perry, who had 23 in 2024.The program record for steals in a season is 39 set by Bridgette Gilliano in 2022. Dinges leads the nation in steals per game (1.00) while she is fourth in total steals with 24.
Dinges is hitting .443 on the season with nine doubles and 22 runs scored in addition to her 24 steals. Dinges had a MAAC-best .513 on-base percentage while leading the Mount with a .643 slugging percentage.
Del Giorno is now hitting a robust .385 on the year after going 5-for-7 in the Marist doubleheader. Her five RBI on the day nearly tripled her season total as she entered the doubleheader with three RBI on the season. Del Giorno now has 99 career hits with the Mountaineers.
Manni went 5-for-7 in the Marist doubleheader, and is now hitting .779 (7-for-9) over her past three games. She hs improved her season average to .309 while she is tied with Del Giorno for the team lead with two triples.
Emma Tawney is 10-for-19 (.526) at the plate over her past eight games. She is now hitting .375 on the year with a .488 on-base percentage and a .531 slugging percentage.
UP NEXT: The Mount is back in action this weekend with a three-game MAAC series at Manhattan. The teams will play a noon doubleheader on Saturday before playing a single game at noon on Sunday.
