MARYLAND (WBFF) — A Brooklyn Park man has been sentenced to over six years in federal prison in connection an investigation that led to a drugs and guns seizure.
Steven Staggers Jr., 31, received a 79-month prison sentenced, followed by three years of supervised release, for possessing firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon.
Authorities said in mid-2023, police began investigating Staggers after law enforcement observed him posting public videos of himself with a gun on social media.
In September 2023, officials executed a search warrant at Staggers’ home in Brooklyn Park.
They found two Glock pistols, approximately 96 rounds of ammunition, an extended gun magazine, about 28 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, and cutting agents used to prepare substances for distribution.
Police also seized a cell phone which authorities said revealed that Staggers was attempting to sell guns to other people.
In November 2024, police seized a second cell phone that belonged to Staggers, and found that he was continuing to attempt to sell guns to other people.
Officials believe that Staggers knew these potential buyers were also prohibited from owning guns.
On February 4, 2025, investigators executed a search warrant at a new home where Staggers lived in Curtis Bay.
During that search, investigators seized about 98 rounds of ammunition.
