Here are your Etihad Player of the Month nominees for March.
Nicolás Fernández Mercau
Signed last season from Elche CF, the talented playmaker continues to make a huge impact on the team in 2026. Operating as the lone striker in the absence of Alonso MartÃnez, Fernández Mercau has five goals in five games to start the campaign.
In March, the 26-year-old scored four goals and recorded one assist. Starting his fine run of form against Orlando City SC in the 2026 Home Opener, Fernández Mercau scored a goal and provided an assist that day during a 5-0 rout.
A brace against the Colorado Rapids in his next game helped New York City FC to a 3-1 victory, before a delightful free kick against Inter Miami CF drew his side level in a game they would unfortunately lose narrowly.
A key cog in attack, Fernández Mercau is proving to be one of the most dangerous forwards in MLS on current form and a worthy nominee.
AgustÃn Ojeda
A quick and dynamic winger, Ojeda has enjoyed a great start to the 2026 campaign.
It was his cross in stoppage time against the Philadelphia Union that Tayvon Gray headed home to hand New York City FC a 2-1 road win in Pennsylvania. In his next outing, against Orlando City SC, Ojeda put his name on the scoresheet and broke the deadlock with a well-taken volley from just inside the area.
Proving a consistent threat in the final third, Ojeda once again found the net when Inter Miami CF came to the Bronx, his well-timed run through the middle and composed finish putting New York City FC 2-1 up at the time.
A tireless runner and constant threat in the final third, Ojeda is a worthy nominee.
Maxi Moralez
The veteran playmaker continues to show he is only getting better with age, as his performances refuse to dip.
Moralez has showcased his creativity in March, notching four assists as well as one goal. Arguably at his most influential against Orlando City SC, he assisted New York City FC’s first and second goals on the day before adding his own name to the scoresheet for their third.
Carrying that form into the next game, he assisted Talles Magno’s goal against the Colorado Rapids to secure a 3-1 win. Rounding out the month with a defense-splitting pass against Inter Miami CF, Moralez remains the chief conductor in New York City FC’s attack, controlling games with class and intelligence.
