NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Manhattan Jaspers Baseball team (10-12, 4-6 MAAC) put together a commanding victory over the Warriors of Merrimack College (10-12, 5-5 MAAC) by a score of 10-3 at the Greater Lawrence Tech Baseball Field on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Jaspers got some much-needed reinforcements with the return of Andreaus Lewis from a three-game absence by doubling down the left field line to drive home Guriyandel Salva in the top of the first inning.
Two batters later, Hunter Sute chopped into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded and allowed Vincent Samuel to cross the plate.
After Trevor Hansen doubled to lead off the second inning, Salva followed suit with a double of his own down the right field line to drive home Hansen and make the Jasper lead as high as three.
In the fourth inning, the Jaspers took advantage of the Warriors’ miscues in the field to eventually load the bases.
Once Samuel worked a walk to load the bases, Lewis brought home Ryan Lordier for the team’s fourth run.
The next batter was Justin Best, who broke the game open with a three-run home run and brought home Samuel and Salva.
The Warriors responded with two runs before the Green and White added another two runs, highlighted by a Hunter Sute base knock to right center, and drove home Best.
The final run scored came from Colin Basehore’s fielder’s choice to bring home Best for Manhattan’s tenth run.

QUOTES FROM THE JASPERS

Head Coach Steven Rosen: “Connor was outstanding today from the first pitch. Retired the first ten with tempo and command. That was huge for setting the overall tone for the day. I’m really proud of the offense for how they executed the game plan while getting to a really good arm. Continued to play great defense, so that was another full team win. Right back to work for the whole group.”
