As an adult, it’s easy to fall into the same routine: the same workout classes, the same group chats, the same weekend plans. There’s nothing wrong with a little stability, but we at team HG are huge proponents of trying new things. Volo Sports is a low-pressure, social sports league in Hoboken, Jersey City, and NYC where the goal is just as much about having fun and grabbing a drink after as it is about the game itself. From kickball and cornhole to volleyball, pickleball, and soccer, there’s a mix of options depending on your vibe and ambition (when it comes to sports, ours is admittedly low). Read on to learn more about Volo Sports, an adult sports league in Hoboken, Jersey City, and NYC. Plus a deal for HG readers, but more on that in a bit!

How It Works
You’ve probably seen the Volo Sports T-shirts around town, but with spring registration officially open, it’s the perfect time to try it out for yourself.
Leagues run across Hoboken, Jersey City, and Manhattan, and signing up is pretty straightforward. There are more than a dozen sports to choose from, and the date and time are completely customizable. There are also options for coed, women’s, or men’s teams, plus different skill levels, so whether you’re going for something casual or a little more competitive, there’s a fit.
Volo has built a strong local following, and a big part of that is how easy it feels from start to finish. Players can sign up for whatever they feel comfortable with: solo, with friends, or as a full team.
It’s also intentionally low-pressure. There’s a mix of skill levels, so no one feels out of place, not even first-timers.Â
The biggest draw is the social side. Post-game hangs, bar specials, and built-in time to actually talk to people. Which, as most of us know, is the hardest part of making friends as an adult.

What’s In Store This Spring
As the weather starts to turn, it’s one of the easiest ways to get outside and be a little more social without overthinking it. Volo’s spring leagues are officially open through April 9th, and there are a few options we’re especially into:
Volo’s beach volleyball is the perfect spring highlight. Playing at the Liberty Harbor Courts at Surf City in Jersey City, it is the only beach volleyball in the area where Volo is exclusively offering leagues and pickups. They are offering both recreational and competitive leagues on Tuesdays and Thursdays.Â
Wednesday night kickball and flip cup at JFK Stadium in Hoboken (a new option this season)Â
Basketball at Damon Murray Gym in Hoboken, now with stat tracking, video highlights, and reversible jerseys. Â
There’s also a full lineup of leagues across the area, so it’s worth browsing to find one that fits your schedule and vibe.
The Details
If you’re thinking about signing up, registration closes on April 9th at midnight.
For first-time players, using code HOBOKENGIRL at checkout gets you $25 off your first registration (valid through 4/9/26).
