NYPD officers fatally shot a pit bull that attacked its owner inside a Queens apartment building on Monday night, police reported.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded just before 9 p.m. on March 30 inside the Ocean Bay Apartments located at 4-14 Beach 58th St. in the Rockaways.
Officers from the 101st Precinct say they received a 911 report of a dangerous animal inside the building. When responding officers arrived at the home, they stated they observed the pit bull biting a 28-year-old woman in the arm.
One of the cops opened fire, striking the animal, police sources said.

The dog owner was rushed to Jamaica Hospital with a laceration to her arm and is listed in stable condition. The officers were all evaluated at the hospital but did not suffer any injuries.
Police say the dog did not survive the bullet wound.
It is not immediately clear if the animal has a history of aggression. The investigation remains ongoing.
