Druthers Brewing Company announced that it will host Emmy-winning “Simpsons” writer Bill Oakley for a pair of hourlong events celebrating the 30th anniversary of the episode “22 Short Films About Springfield,” which first introduced the idea that Albany residents call hamburgers “steamed hams” — creating a rumor that locals have been struggling to debunk ever since.

The event was announced on the brewpub’s Facebook page and will be held April 14 — the day the episode originally aired in 1996 — at Druthers’ Albany location on Broadway. The event promises to feature Oakley not only explaining the joke’s origins, but also offering additional stories and behind-the-scenes commentary about his time working on the long-running animated series.

The first event will begin at 6 p.m. that evening, with a second event scheduled for 8 p.m. Both events require tickets, and attendees can pay an additional price to dine on a “special Bill Oakley branded Steamed Hams™ burger” during the show. Fans can also purchase tickets for a meet-and-greet with Oakley after the event.
