A pit bull mauling its owner’s arm was shot dead by NYPD cops in a Queens apartment, police said Tuesday.
A second dog caught in the crossfire inside the home in NYCHA’s Ocean Bay Apartments in the Rockaways was also killed, police said.
Horrified witnesses called 911 about 10:30 p.m. Monday after the pit bull attacked its 28-year-old owner inside her apartment on Beach 58th St. near Beach Channel Drive, cops said.
NYPD officers opened fire on the pit bull still attacking its master. The pet died at the scene.
The second dog, a large mixed breed, was critically wounded by a stray slug and died before it could be brought to an Animal Care Centers of NYC facility for treatment, officials said.
The woman suffered extensive wounds to her arm and lost a lot of blood, cops said. She was taken to an area hospital, where she’s expected to recover.
The officers who responded were also taken to the hospital for ringing in the ears.
