YONKERS (WABC) — City workers in Yonkers are being honored for doing the right thing after returning a lost wallet to a Metro-North rider.
“I kind of went into panic mode because I was like I just lost all my credit cards, my IDs, everything,” Giselle Rivera said.
Josh Parker said he got the wallet back to Rivera because his mom taught him to do what’s right.
“Does your mom know about this? She does now! She’ll be calling me Ha!” Parker said.
Parker found the tiny wallet on the street in Yonkers by the train station.
Rivera was wearing a jacket with small open pockets.
“It probably fell out while I was just walking, not even realizing when I went to pay for the subway I realized I didn’t have any of my stuff with me,” Rivera said.
Josh, Bryant and Rita went straight to the address on her drivers license and they popped up in her phone on her ring camera while she was at work in the city.
“Hi we have your wallet!!!”
The group that found it are the “BID Rangers,” a group of ten people who go around making downtown Yonkers look better including street sweeping to landscaping and graffiti removal.
“I would want somebody to give it back if it belongs to me if it was mine so they don’t have to go through the processes of getting their all new credentials things like that,” Parker said.
They were recognized by the mayor’s office as a thank you.
