ONEONTA, N.Y. — Interstate 88 is closed in both directions between exits 10 and 12.
The New York State Department of Transportation, working with New York State Police, announced the closure and said it will remain in effect until further notice.
Drivers heading east from Binghamton will be sent off I-88 at Exit 10 and can re-enter at Exit 12 using St. Hwy. 7.
Westbound drivers from Albany will leave I-88 at Exit 12 and rejoin at Exit 10, also using St. Hwy 7.
Detour signs are posted to help guide drivers.
There is no set timetable for repairs.
Officials urge drivers to avoid the area, plan for extra travel time and use caution on the detour routes.
