1. ‘TikTok, we’re back’: Mayor Mamdani announces return of social media app for NYC government

Almost three years ago, New York City joined governments across the country in banning TikTok from its phones over security concerns about the Chinese social media site.

Yesterday, Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a bona fide social media star, took to the app to announce a reversal: “TikTok, we’re back.”

2. Manhattan DA pushes state lawmakers for tougher 3D-printed gun laws

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg showed reporters yesterday how a $250 printer and a few dollars worth of parts can transform an AR-15 rifle into a DIY machine gun.

Describing an evolving public safety threat, Bragg explained, “We’ve moved from the iron pipeline to really the kitchen table pipeline.”

Bragg is calling on state lawmakers to pass stricter 3D gun laws along with the state budget.

3. Bruce Blakeman denied public campaign matching funds in race for N.Y. governor, board decides

New York Republican gubernatorial nominee Bruce Blakeman was denied millions of dollars of public campaign matching funds following a decision by the state panel that oversees the program.

The state Public Campaign Finance Board yesterday voted 4-3 on a resolution that disqualifies Blakeman from the program over a technicality — that Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood, Blakeman’s running mate, did not submit his own paperwork applying for matching funds, a new requirement added just a few months ago.
