HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A New York man is behind bars after a Sunday stabbing near a Myrtle Beach-area gas station.
Horry County police charged Zachary Meade, 35, of Cohoes, New York, on Monday with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Meade stabbed a man with a sharp object multiple times during an altercation, which led to life-threatening injuries, according to arrest warrants.
The stabbing happened around 8 p.m. Sunday on the 500 block of Burcale Road near the Coastal Petro gas station.
The responding officer made contact with a man walking away from a black school bus with its rear door open.
The man told police that another man attacked him and he stabbed the other man in return, a police report received Monday said. During the incident, the man said his dogs ran away; they were later found, the report said.
The man also said that the other man was drunk and stabbed him first, the report said.
Police saw a large amount of blood on the man’s shirt, what appeared to be a stab wound on his back and a bite mark on his inner thigh.
Police found the other man lying on the pavement with multiple cuts across his face and at least two others on his chest and abdomen.
Officers did not find a knife or other sharp-edged object near his body, the report said.
Both men were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The report lists the two involved as S1 and S2. It is not clear which label refers to Meade.

A judge set a $150,000 bond for Meade. He remains booked as of this writing.
