Summer is about to get a little hotter on Long Island.
On Wednesday, Colombian superstar Shakira announced additional dates for her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour,” including a July 23 stop at UBS Arena at Belmont Park in Elmont. This will mark the first time that the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer will be appearing at the venue.
In addition to her UBS concert, Shakira will make two other newly announced appearances in the tristate area — at Prudential Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey, on July 14 and at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on July 20.Â
Citicard members can order tickets in the presale, which runs from 10 a.m. Friday through 10 p.m. Monday at citientertainment.com. Verizon customers can also get presale tickets in the same time frame by going to the myAccess link in the My Verizon app. Tickets will be available to the public starting at 10 a.m. April 9 at shakira.com.
The new dates follow the March release of Shakira’s latest single “Algo Tú,” which features rising Colombian singer Beéle. The track combines Latin and Afro-fusion styles and also features traditional Colombian sounds, including the gaita pan flute.
The tour is in support of Shakira’s most 12th studio album, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry),” which came out two years ago. The album focuses on themes of resilience, strength and transformation following personal hardships. The disc features collaborations with Cardi B, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro and Bizarrap.
Shakira is having a moment. In February, she was nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, becoming the first Colombian artist to receive a nomination. She is among 17 recording artists nominated in February, including Long Island’s Mariah Carey, Billy Idol, Phil Collins, Lauryn Hill and Sade. The inductees will be announced in April.Â
