Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced Wednesday the first-ever city map of every licensed childcare provider.
Speaking at the New York Hall of Science in Queens, Mamdani said the goal of the map is to help parents know all the options available in their neighborhood.
“Many parents do not have access to all of this information, and it’s hard to be a parent in this city when you don’t know where to go,” Mamdani said. “You also have the confidence of knowing this is a regularly updated, comprehensive set of information because, for the first time, it’s run by the city.”
Mamdani said the map will also show care provider health and safety information, and believes the resource will make it easier for families to find childcare that they can afford.
