The New York Times Company announced today that Rob Gelick has been named senior vice president, head of Growth.
Working closely with colleagues across XFun, marketing, strategy, finance, and beyond, Rob will lead the Growth team to drive subscription growth across our product portfolio. He will strengthen and scale our existing levers and platforms while unlocking new opportunities and capabilities to drive acquisition, engagement, and retention – here in the U.S. and internationally.
Rob has built his career tackling complex, high-stakes growth challenges and building the teams and systems to meet them. He joins us most recently from Yahoo, where, as General Manager of Yahoo Mail, he led the modernization of one of the world’s largest email platforms, embedding AI-driven personalization, and delivering meaningful gains in revenue and profitability. Prior to that, as Chief Product Officer of Paramount Streaming, he helped launch and scale Paramount+ to more than 60 million global subscribers and led product strategy across Pluto TV and Showtime.
Earlier in his career, Rob was part of the founding team behind CBS All Access and a founding executive at Helio, where he helped pioneer early mobile media experiences, including YouTube’s first mobile product.
