Councilmember Lee looks at budget proposal

City Council members have been criticizing Mayor Zohran Mamdani on social media over how to close the city’s budget gap.

It all comes after the mayor claimed the council’s proposed budget would cut billions of dollars from city agencies.

But City Council Speaker Julie Menin says the spending cuts would not harm city services.

The final budget agreement isn’t due until July 1.

Councilmember Linda Lee, the chair of the council’s Finance Committee, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Friday to discuss more.

She represents neighborhoods in eastern Queens, including Fresh Meadows, Bayside, Jamaica and Holis.
