Last week, Capital Tonight spoke with the ride sharing company Uber about Gov. Kathy Hochul’s proposed car insurance law changes. The governor wants to:
crack down on multi-car staged accidents/criminal enterprises
allow drivers to recover economic damages only if the injured driver is not at fault
narrow the definition of serious injury, where if you can’t perform customary activities for 90 days following an accident, you can potentially qualify for more damage
New York does indeed have some of the highest insurance premium costs in the nation.
On Friday, Capital Tonight heard from the other side of the issue with Andrew Finkelstein, president of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
