Police from the 106th Precinct are looking for a gun-toting cyclist who robbed a grocery store during the early hours of Saturday, March 28.

Police say the suspect walked into the market at 115-07 Lefferts Blvd. in South Ozone Park at 3 a.m., pulled out a firearm and demanded money from a store employee. The perpetrator removed $3,500 from the cash register, police said, adding that the gunman fled the location on his bike traveling northbound on Leffets Boulevard toward Linden Boulevard.

Investigators say the same suspect tried to rob a Texas Chicken & Burgers restaurant just over a mile away a week earlier. The cyclist rode up to the chicken joint at 125-15 Liberty Ave. at just after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21 and went inside, where he pulled out a firearm and demanded cash. When the store employee refused to comply, the gunman turned and ran out of the shop, after realizing he was seen on a security camera, according to a law enforcement source. He was last seen riding southbound on 126th Street toward Linden Boulevard. There were no injuries at either commercial establishment.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect from the Texas Chicken & Burgers restaurant and described him as having a dark complexion. He wore a black hooded winter jacket, black pants, a black Nike ski mask, white sneakers and he carried a backpack.
