If you have children who take part in youth sports, you’ve probably heard about, or even been asked yourself to take part in coaching.
It comes as communities across the state and country are in need of coaches for sports across all ages.
According to USTA Coaching’s Megan Rose, a lot of children are getting into tennis, but she says the number of coaches isn’t keeping up.
USTA Coaching is a new initiative with the goal of being to educate and encourage people to become tennis coaches. Rose says to be a good youth coach, it’s important to have a good personal connection and create a rapport with them.
“This is really about keeping kids on the court building their confidence understanding the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and tennis being the world’s healthiest sport, we want to make it so that kids stay out there for their whole lives and when we just contribute to healthier communities everywhere,” Rose said.
