BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A police officer is in recovery after being hit by a car in Brooklyn on Saturday evening, according to the NYPD.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Wallabout Street and Broadway.

Officials say uniformed officers were conducting a traffic stop of a white 2018 Q50S Infiniti. When the officers approached, the driver accelerated, hitting two police vehicles.

Officials say the driver then reversed and hit an officer before fleeing south on Wallabout Street.

The officer sustained injuries to the leg and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
