Amsterdam, NY (WRGB) — A 21-year-old Amsterdam man was arrested April 2, 2026, after an investigation into reported child sexual exploitation images, according to New York State Police.
New York State Police of Fonda, with assistance from the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Amsterdam Police Department, arrested 21-year-old Dakota Kilgore of Amsterdam.
Kilgore was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony, and possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony. State Police said he is accused of promoting and possessing child pornography.
The arrest followed an investigation and the execution of a search warrant at Kilgore’s residence in Amsterdam on April 2, 2026. State Police said the investigation began with a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Kilgore was arrested and processed at State Police in Fonda, then arraigned in Amsterdam City Court. He was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond or a $50,000 partially secured bond.
