The Onondaga County Legislature on Tuesday passed legislation placing a county sales tax cap on gas at $4. The resolution limits sales tax collections fo the first $4 of the per-gallon price of gasoline and diesel fuel amid a spike in prices due to the war in Iran.

The New York state Legislature on Tuesday passed a second state budget extension — now a week past the budget’s deadline — and was promptly signed into law by Gov. Kathy Hochul. The extender runs through April 14 and ensures the state can cover essential expenses and make payroll deadlines. The budget was due April 1.
