Doty, who led the Saints to the NCAA Tournament as a sophomore, posted Tuesday on social media an image of him wearing an Orange uniform and accompanying text that read, “Wouldn’t want to go to war with anyone else,” and tagged McNamara’s account.

The day after McNamara took the job at Syracuse, his alma mater, Doty told the website On3 that he intended to enter the transfer portal when it opened, which is today.

Doty, who is from the Syracuse suburb of Fulton, was widely expected to follow McNamara to the Orange. Right after Siena’s season-ending loss to Duke, Doty said, “I plan on playing for G-Mac through my whole career.”

Doty averaged 18 points per game this past season.
