Police in New York are searching for a man suspected of randomly attacking men across Brooklyn, leaving them with cuts to the left side of their faces.
Authorities said the suspect carried out three similar assaults over the weekend, raising concerns that a serial slasher is targeting men at random.
The first attack occurred around 6:30 a.m. (local time) on Saturday, when the assailant slashed a 37-year-old man on a northbound Q train at the Church Avenue subway station. Officers responded to a 911 call and transported the victim to Kings County Hospital, where doctors treated him for facial wounds.
Later that evening, at about 9:40 p.m., police said the same suspect attacked another man, aged 53, near the intersection of Foster Avenue and New York Avenue. The second victim also suffered a cut to the left side of his face and was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
Investigators believe the same individual may be responsible for a third similar assault, which occurred early Sunday morning.
The NYPD has stepped up patrols in the affected areas and urged residents to remain alert while detectives review surveillance footage and gather witness accounts to track down the suspect.
