QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A badly decomposed body was found in a storage facility off a Queens highway on Tuesday morning, police said.

The skeletal remains were found in a storage area under an overpass near the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and Northern Boulevard Exit at around 11:09 a.m., according to the NYPD.

The storage area belongs to the Department of Transportation, but it was unclear if a DOT worker found the body, police said.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
