BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — At the Webster Houses, families say every time they turn on their faucets, it’s a guessing game. Will it be hot or freezing cold?
A longtime tenant, Michelle Alvarado, reached out to PIX11 News for help after years of unreturned calls and unanswered repair tickets.
PIX11’s Monica Morales visited the building, but the hot water was running. Residents, however, say that it is never consistent.
Mileya Ellis and her three-year-old daughter Zariya told us it’s been off and on for weeks, forcing them to boil water just to bathe and clean.
A NYCHA spokesperson tells PIX11 News, “NYCHA is in the process of replacing a broken lock at Webster Houses. Additionally, we have made contact with the residents experiencing issues with heat and hot water, and can confirm that there are no outages at this time. NYCHA’s Heat Team will continue to follow up. Residents with heat or hot water concerns are encouraged to call the Customer Contact Center at 718-707-7771 or submit work tickets through the MyNYCHA application.”
