A new book has revealed that the late Queen Elizabeth met Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter just once before her passing. The late monarch sadly passed away in September 2022, but a biography has now confirmed she thankfully met her namesake, Princess Lilibet, in the months leading up to that.

To recap, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from life as senior working royals in 2020. Following that, they moved to California to start a new life. This is rumored to have fractured their relationships with other royals, particularly with Prince William and the now-King Charles.
Nonetheless, Harry and Meghan were keen to make the effort to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. As such, in June, they travelled to the UK – with Prince Archie and Lilibet – to attend some celebratory events. And, it was during this visit that the Queen finally met her great-granddaughter, Lilibet.
The special moment is detailed in a new biography, written by Robert Hardman. In Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. Her Story, the author said that the monarch was “thrilled” over the meeting. “The one-year-old crawled around her feet,” he wrote in the book, which backs up a similar version of events shared in Harry’s own memoir.
Writing about “the final visit” in his book, Spare, the Duke said Lilibet had “cuddled” the monarch’s shins. “Sweetest children, Granny said, sounding bemused,” he wrote. “She’d expected them to be a bit more … American, I think? Meaning, in her mind, more rambunctious.”
Speaking about the Queen’s own wishes for a final visit, elsewhere in his biography, Robert said that she planned for the family to visit her in Balmoral before her passing. “She wanted to make sure that they all had a really happy memory of her,” he wrote.
