BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Common Council Member Leah Halton-Pope says she is seeking to fill her former boss’s seat in the New York State Assembly.
Halton-Pope previously served as Peoples-Stokes’ chief of staff. Halton-Pope praised Peoples-Stokes’ legacy in a statement, calling her “more than a leader… an institution,” and crediting her with leaving an “indelible imprint” on the city, county, and state.
A new Democratic nominee must be selected by April 14.
