Glens Falls, NY (WRGB) — Friday morning New York State Police provided CBS6 with new information on the Glens Falls firefighter injured Thursday night.

They say at 7:40 p.m. Thursday night, the firefighter was sitting in the front passenger seat of Engine 4 as it was leaving Fire Station No. 2 on a report of a fire. They say during the turn onto Broad Street, the firefighter fell from the truck and hit the pavement, causing serious injuries. State Police say the Engine and Ladder Truck stopped and immediately began providing medical treatment.

The city of Glens Falls is not releasing the name of the firefighter but say they were rushed to Glens Falls Hospital and then transported to Albany Medical Center. State Police say the firefighter is in critical but stable condition.

We are told family, members of the Glens Falls Fire Department, and the mayor met together at the hospital.

Glens Falls Mayor Diana Palmer said,

My heart is with our firefighter’s family – the family at home, the family in the firehouse, and everyone who knows and loves this member of our community.Comment with Bubbles
