Why go?

For a spa that seamlessly fuses your classic, luxe amenities with more medi options.

Set the scene

The Equinox Hotel in Hudson Yards is probably the city’s premiere wellness destination—it’s a luxury hotel that was born from a luxury gym, and contains within its tower the latter’s flagship location. But while the lobby and especially the gym bustle with buttoned-up corporate fitness buffs, the spa is quiet, sterile, dimly-lit. Like the doctor’s office of your dreams.

What’s the backstory?

Equinox operates spas in many of its fitness clubs across the country. These offer bodywork and skincare as well as various specialities like therapies compression and cryo. The hotel spa is amongst the most comprehensive—the menu is 59 pages long (granted, some of this paper is given to tasteful black-and-white photography.)

What’s the wellness concept?

As mentioned above, this is a luxury medi spa where you get the best of both worlds—traditional relaxation plus bioregenesis; facial and scalp massage paired with an IV drip administered by a nurse that pumps antioxidant-rich glutathione into your veins. “Anti-aging” and “regenerative” are words commonly deployed.

Was there a standout treatment?

As in life, the greatest pleasure here was the simplest—a massage by an expert therapist who practically gave me an orthopedic adjustment. The magnesium-rich sleepy time IV drip wasn’t bad, either, mostly because it was administered in a comfortable window seat from which I could stare down at the pedestrians of Hudson Yards below.

How was/were your therapist(s)?

Everyone here had, to me, the air of a doctor with bedside manner of the utmost fabulosity. That everyone knew their stuff and then some only furthered this impression of expertise.

What else do they offer?

Guests of the hotel also have full access to the gym facility, which has to be the vastest and most complete hotel gym I’ve yet enjoyed.

What’s the space like?

It’s a bit moody, quite marble-y, and provides suitable respite for some of the property’s lighter and brighter designs.

Accessibility

The spa is accessible via the elevator bank. Further information can be provided on a case by case basis by contacting the spa—it is difficult to imagine they wouldn’t accommodate most requests and individualities given the caliber of service here.

Anything else to mention?

Spa-only guests get access to the full fitness club on the day of their appointment.
