Police said a 32-year-old man was shot in the back. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A few hours later, just after 1 p.m., officers were called to Croes Avenue near Seward Avenue in the Soundview section. Police said when they arrived, they found a 34-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.

Amazon driver shot in West Farms

The next shooting happened at around 2:30 p.m. at East Tremont and Bryant avenues in the West Farms section of the borough.

Police said the 31-year-old victim was shot in the ankle and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

An Amazon truck parked at the intersection of East Tremont and Bryant appeared to be the focus of the investigation. There was at least one bullet hole on the passenger side of the truck near the tail light, and a shell casing was found inside the truck.

Amazon released a statement saying, in part, “Our team is working with the driver’s employer to support them however we can and cooperating with law enforcement as they investigate.”

No arrests in rash of Bronx shootings

About an hour later, at around 3:30 p.m., police say a 26-year-old man was shot twice in the leg on Adams Place between East 182nd and East 183rd streets in Belmont.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to be OK.

Finally, police said just after 3:45 p.m., shots were fired on a basketball court on Throop Avenue in the Pelham Gardens section, but no one was hurt.

According to police, two individuals wearing masks fired about 10 shots, then fled in an SUV.

Shootings down in the Bronx, but residents still on edge

As of Sunday, 215 people had been shot in the Bronx so far this year compared to 281 during the same time last year – a 23% decrease. Shootings in the borough are also down overall – 178 incidents so far in 2025 compared to 220 in 2024, a 19% decrease.

Still, Bronx residents are on edge.

“Crime supposed to be down, OK, but the guns are too much out here,” one woman said. “It’s too many guns out here in the wrong hands.”

Tuesday’s shooting in Soundview happened in front of the apartment building where Diana Gonzalez lives with her five children. She said she heard the gunshots.

“I’ve already been saying I’m going to leave the Bronx,” she said. “Granted, there’s violence everywhere, but the Bronx has gotten really bad.”
