The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has launched an investigation into democratic congressman Eric Swalwell after he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women.

“We urge survivors and anyone with knowledge of these allegations to contact our Special Victims Division at 212-335-9373,” the DA’s office told CNN in a Saturday, April 11, statement. “Our specially trained prosecutors, investigators and counselors are well-equipped to help you in a trauma-informed, survivor-centered manner.”

On Friday, April 10, Swalwell, 45, was accused of sexual misconduct and sexual harassment by multiple women, including a former staffer who claims the congressman raped her twice. He has categorically denied the accusations.

“These allegations of sexual assault are flat false. They are absolutely false,” Swalwell said in a Friday social media video. “They did not happen. They have never happened. And I will fight them with everything I have.”

Swalwell further issued an apology to any of his supporters who might have “doubted” their support for the gubernatorial candidate as a result of the numerous allegations.

“I think you know who I am,” he stressed. “For over 20 years, I have served the public as a city councilman, as a member of congress and as a prosecutor who went to court on behalf of victims — particularly on behalf of sexual assault victims. That’s who I am and have always been.”
