Emergency Services were called to extinguish an unoccupied, burning car in the Kingsbridge section of The Bronx on Saturday morning, April 11, according to police.
An NYPD spokesperson said the vehicle was located at West 230th Street and the Major Deegan Expressway under the overpass. “Vehicle on fire, came over at 11.05 a.m., confirmed car fire, no injuries,” he said.
The spokesperson continued, “FDNY put out the vehicle fire. No-one in the vehicle at the time. Fire extinguished by FDNY.” We asked if the cause was under investigation and the spokesperson said he guessed the fire department were investigating the cause.

Meanwhile, according to Instagram user, @kidelectrik, in a separate incident, a car was seen overturned and in flames also on the Major Deegan Expressway just before the RFK bridge, most likely in the Port Morris section of The Bronx on Saturday night, April 11. “Prayers go out to whoever was in that car,” @kidelectrick wrote.
Norwood News has reached out to the FDNY for more information on this incident and will share any updates we receive. The Port Morris car fire was also reported by users of the Citizens’ App and according to one post was on the Major Deegan northbound lane at East 138th Street.

On Sunday afternoon, April 12, as reported, one person incurred minor injuries following a separate car accident also in Kingsbridge, according to FDNY / EMS officials.

Also on Sunday, April 12, as reported, emergency services and a tow truck were called when a car crashed into a wall in the East Fordham Road tunnel at Southern Boulevard in the Belmont section of The Bronx.

Separately, as reported, FDNY were called to East 204th Street and Mosholu Parkway on Saturday night, April 11, after a child got locked inside a car.
Fifteen people were injured following a bus collision in the Edenwald section of The Bronx on Friday, April 10, EMS officials said.
There were minor injuries reported after a two vehicle crash on the Grand Concourse in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx on March 30.

As reported, a 32-year-old man died following a bus-motorcycle collision outside Tracey Towers also in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx on Wednesday, April 8.
Prior to this, as reported, three people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle car crash on West Gun Hill Road in Norwood on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, no injuries were reported following a three-vehicle crash on the Major Deegan Expressway on Sunday, March 22, while two people were hospitalized following a single-vehicle collision in Norwood on Jerome Avenue and Mosholu Parkway the same day.
