The former St. Albans home of the late actress, singer and activist Lena Horne, located at 112-45 178th St. in the Addisleigh Park section of the neighborhood, had a sale finalized on Tuesday, April 7, for $1.16 million.

The home’s sale marks a new record for a single-family home sale in Addisleigh Park. The family that bought Horne’s former home was familiar with its history.

Horne resided at 112-45 178th St. in Addisleigh Park from 1946 to 1962. While she was one of the first African American homeowners in the neighborhood, it would soon become known as the African American Gold Coast. Some of the other notable African Americans who moved to Addisleigh Park shortly after Horne included Jackie Robinson and Joe Louis.

This single-family residence features 14 total rooms. It has six bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, hardwood floors, a finished basement, a private driveway, a garage, a large backyard and a deck. The property spans four levels and 2,287 square feet.

Horne’s former home was placed on the market in the beginning of December 2025. The home was sold by Matthew Wynter of Brown Harris Stevens.

During her musical and acting career, which spanned 70 years, Horne won four Grammy Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award. She was active in the Civil Rights movement, including taking part in the 1963 March on Washington.
