BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A driver wanted for previously assaulting an NYPD officer was apprehended after a brief car chase in Brooklyn on Monday afternoon, according to police and law enforcement sources.
The suspect was spotted in a red Kia with New Jersey license plates in the rear of 52 Ave. V near West 12th Street when cops tried to stop the car at around 2:15 p.m., sources and police said.
The suspect then allegedly rammed into an NYPD vehicle several times before driving off, according to police. After a brief pursuit, authorities said the driver and a passenger were taken into custody at Homecrest Avenue and Williams Court.
An officer was injured while arresting the suspect, police said. The cop was treated for minor injuries at the 60th Precinct.
The driver was wanted for allegedly assaulting an NYPD officer before Monday’s incident, sources said. The details of the incident were not immediately available.
The charges against the driver and passenger were pending on Monday, police said.
