According to the publication, the application is for a “full demolition” of an area of 32,000 square feet. The larger Avant Gardner complex the East Williamsburg venue is part of spans roughly 80,000 square feet. Costs are reportedly estimated at $1.5 million. Resident Advisor has reached out to representatives from Avant Gardner for comment.

The reported filing arrives after a turbulent few months for Brooklyn Mirage. Shortly after a planned grand reopening in early May 2024 was delayed due to construction issues, CEO Josh Wyatt—who joined the company in October 2024 to lead a large-scale venue redesign—was fired and replaced by Gary Richards.

In July, after ten weeks of cancelled programming, BK Mag reported that Avant Gardner was looking to sell Brooklyn Mirage, but had encountered “difficulties” finding a buyer. Avant Gardner filed for bankruptcy in August.
