Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting after barricade near Queen Creek

  • April 14, 2026

QUEEN CREEK, AZ (AZFamily) — A police barricade is over with a suspect dead early Tuesday morning after a man was shot near Queen Creek.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies and Queen Creek police officers responded to the area of 194th Street and San Tan Boulevard late Monday night to get a suspect out of a home.

MCSO said a man had been shot and was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. It is unclear if the suspect and the victim knew each other.

While trying to get the suspect in custody, he barricaded himself inside the home, authorities said. When officers made contact with him, the officer-involved shooting happened.

The suspect was taken to the hospital after being shot, and he was later pronounced dead. MCSO has not publicly identified the suspect.

No officers were injured during this response. Details about the initial shooting are not available.

MCSO has taken over the investigation into this incident.

This officer-involved shooting is the 32nd in the state of Arizona in 2026.
