Stolen vehicle pursuit in Massena leads to multiple charges for two individuals

  • April 15, 2026

MASSENA, New York (WWNY) – New York State Police say two north country teenagers were charged after troopers spotted a vehicle reported stolen out of the City of Plattsburgh and attempted a traffic stop in the Massena area.

Police said that at about 9:55 a.m. on April 13, 2026, troopers traveling southbound on State Route 420 in the town of Massena observed a blue 2019 Hyundai traveling northbound. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Plattsburgh, police said.

Troopers attempted to stop the car, but the driver did not comply, and a pursuit began, according to police. The pursuit lasted about 6 minutes and covered roughly 5 miles through the village of Massena, police said. It ended when the vehicle became stuck on a lawn on Owl Avenue.

State Police said both occupants were taken into custody and identified as Parker F.J. Burgoyne, 19, of Churubusco, and an 18-year-old male from Plattsburgh.

Burgoyne was charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, four counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree, two counts of unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, and criminal mischief in the third degree for damaging another person’s property, State Police said.

The 18-year-old was charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree and conspiracy in the fifth degree, police said.

Both were transported to State Police Massena for processing, then arraigned in Town of Massena Court and released on their own recognizance, police said.
