Douban allegedly drove over a cop’s foot and pushed another officer who was trying to take the suspect out of the vehicle during the car stop, police said. Both officers were treated at a local hospital.
Douban was able to get away before he was apprehended after a brief car chase in Brooklyn on Monday, according to the NYPD.
The suspect was spotted in a red Kia with New Jersey license plates in the rear of 52 Ave. V near West 12th Street when cops tried to stop him at around 2:15 p.m., sources and police said.
Douban allegedly rammed into an NYPD vehicle several times before driving off, going on and off highways and down the wrong way on one-way roads, according to prosecutors.
When he was forced to stop, he got out of the Kia and ran off before he was arrested near Homecrest Avenue and Williams Court, authorities said. Cops allegedly found cocaine in the car.
An officer was injured while arresting the suspect, police said. The cop was treated for minor injuries at the 60th Precinct.
Douban faces several charges in connection with both incidents, including assaulting a police officer, petit larceny, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of stolen property, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, authorities said.
The passenger was not charged.
Douban, a New Jersey resident, was arraigned on both cases and pleaded not guilty. His attorney could not immediately be reached.
