Whether or not it’s tied to his high-profile divorce from actress Nicole Kidman, or just a minor mishap, country music star Keith Urban has been forgetting lyrics during on-stage performances as of late.
At a recent a concert in Nashville, Urban stopped while performing his hit “The Fighter” and admitted that he’d stumbled over is own lyrics, it was noted in a story on al.com
Urban then chuckled and clearly stated: “And I’ve forgotten my own words to my song.”
Then, during the very same performance, a fan shouted the name Nicole.
And with that Urban, 57, jokingly collapsed on stage in a viral moment that some say was because of his highly exposed recent separation from the super star.
Urban and Nicole Kidman announced their surprise divorce after 18 years of marriage, the story on al.com went on to explain.
And it’s no secret that in recent concerts and in-person encounters, Urban seemed to be distracted and somewhat unnerved while giving interviews and when engaged in conversation.
According to TMZ, Natalie Stovall, who accompanied Urban in the duet, has since seemed to have become Urban’s confidante.
However, Stovall is also in another band called Runaway June — but she did perform with Urban before this particular tour.
What’s more, to add to that, Maggie Baugh, Urban’s guitarist, has been rumored to have a relationship with Urban since the very public news broke.
And just last week, Baugh broke her silence.
Baugh released a teaser for her new song, “The Devil Win,” which included words about fending off one’s “feelings” as rumors about the nature of her relationship with Urban continue to swirl.
“I don’t know what the hell I believe in / I don’t know how to heal my soul / Or how to fight this feeling and it’s a damn good place to go / No matter how close I get to the burning edge / Tempting as it is, I won’t let the Devil win,” the 25-year-old Baugh, 25, sang in a video shared via Instagram on Thursday.
And According to Taste of Country, “The Fighter” has now been eliminated from Urban’s shows after a negative reaction from fans that was related to a previous performance with Baugh.
It was also revealed that in a Sept. 25 show in Chicago, Urban performed “The Fighter” with Baugh and changed the lyrics — “When they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be your fighter” — to “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”
