A 30-year-old man died when he rear-ended a tractor-trailer that was stopped on a Bronx expressway early Thursday — and the rig’s driver ran off from the aftermath of the crash.
The tractor-trailer driver was outside his truck dealing with another motorist he had gotten into a minor crash with when the 30-year-old victim slammed his westbound Toyota into the back of the rig on the Cross Bronx Expressway about 12:30 a.m., cops said.
Medics rushed the victim from the scene near the the Clay Ave. exit to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died. His name was not immediately released.
Before cops arrived, the tractor-trailer driver ran off, abandoning his truck. Cops have made no arrests and are looking for the tractor-trailer driver.
Cops were scouring the area for surveillance footage that could help them determine where the tractor-trailer driver ran off to.
