Judge sides with New York on youth mental health funding

STATEWIDE — A federal judge on Monday granted New York Attorney General Letitia James’s motion for a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump administration from ending federal funding for school-based mental health programs. 

James called the ruling “a victory for our young people” and vowed to keep fighting to protect access to care. The grants were created after a series of school shootings, including those in Parkland, Florida, and Uvalde, Texas, to fund mental health professionals in schools nationwide. 

The decision allows New York institutions to retain more than $7.6 million in funding while litigation continues.
